Treatments FAQ's
Anti-Wrinkle Injection FAQs
Botox is used to treat lines and wrinkles related to movement; these typically include frown and forehead lines, and those around the eyes.
What results can I expect?
A more relaxed appearance with younger, smoother looking skin. The results typically last four months.
How does Botox work?
Botox works by relaxing the contraction of certain facial muscles, thereby smoothing out the overlying skin.
Is the treatment painful?
Botox injections involve such tiny needles that the treatment is virtually painless.
Are there any side effects?
There may be some temporary redness, tenderness, swelling and bruising at the injection sites. Serious side effects and allergic-type reactions are extremely rare.
Skin Filler FAQs
Fillers are used to restore facial shape and volume loss. They lift and tighten the skin and can also be used to soften lines, wrinkles and folds. Common areas of treatment are lips, cheeks, temples, jaws, chins, under eyes and noses.
What results can I expect?
An instant lift with a younger, fresher appearance. The results look completely natural and typically last 9-12 months. Skin boosting fillers such as Profhilo also known as mesotherapy, will last around 3-6 months and simply hydrate the skin.
How do they work?
Fillers (such as Juvederm) are made of a naturally occurring substance called hyaluronic acid, which hydrates and plumps the skin by improving its ability to retain water. Over time, the body loses hyaluronic acid and the skin starts to sag and forms wrinkles and folds. Fillers replace the lost hyaluronic acid to restore volume and shape. The fillers are available in syringes and are gently injected into the areas of the face where they are needed.
Is the treatment painful?
Juvederm fillers are injected with tiny needles and contain a local anaesthetic (Lidocaine 0.3%), so that the treatments are almost painless.
Are there side effects?
Hyaluronic acid fillers are safe and fully reversible. There may be some localised redness, tenderness, swelling and bruising but these tend to be very mild and temporary. As with all injections, there is a risk of infection, but this is very rare. More serious side effects and allergic-type reactions are extremely rare.
Skin Peels FAQs
Chemical Peels help treat acne, uneven skin tone (pigmentation), superficial scars and changes related to smoking and the environment (UV damage, pollution).
What results can I expect?
New skin that is tighter and smoother in appearance. For optimum results use in conjunction with the LA LAB™ skincare range.
How do Chemical Peels work?
Chemical Peels involve using non-toxic chemicals (e.g. TCA), to lift off the superficial to medium layers of skin. Used with clinically proven facial creams, this stimulates new skin growth.
Are Chemical Peels painful?
Superficial peels are not painful but give a warm tingling sensation when applied. Cold air is used for extra comfort where deeper peels are used as these temporarily produce a stronger and hotter feeling on the skin before neutralization .
Are there side effects?
Superficial peels produce fewer side effects and there is often some mild redness for an hour or so after the peel, but there can be slight peeling of the skin 3-5 days after. Deeper peels produce flaking skin anywhere between 7-10 days. A specific skin routine will be advised depending on peels taken and a broad-spectrum sunscreen with SPF 30 or higher must be used at all times. Other non-surgical/surgical skin treatments in the area should be avoided for 14 days prior or post.
Skin Needling FAQs
Skin Needling (Micro-Needling) is a form of Collagen Induction Therapy (CIT) and is used to tighten the skin and improve its texture. It can reduce deep pores, rough and uneven skin tone (pigmentation), and deeper scars from acne and/or trauma. It helps repair skin damaged by the sun, smoking, and air pollution.
What results can I expect?
You can expect a lifting and tightening of the skin with a fresher, smoother appearance, and a reduction in scarring. For optimum results use in conjunction with the LA Lab skincare range.
How do Skin Needling treatments work?
Skin Needling utilizes an automated pen device with very small micro-needles that gently and repetitively penetrate the skin to create micro-injuries. These micro-injuries trigger a wound healing response in the skin, including the release of growth factors, which stimulate collagen production. Treatment normally lasts around 30-45 minutes with results lasting for up to a year provided a course is taken.
Is the treatment painful?
A topical anesthetic (LMX cream) is applied to the face for 30 minutes before the treatment to ensure minimal discomfort.
Are there side effects?
Side effects usually settle within 4-6 days. Gentle cleansing of the area should be practiced for 24-48 hours post-treatment and exercise avoided. Other non-surgical/surgical skin treatments in the area should be avoided for 14 days prior or post.
Aqualyx® FAQ's
Aqualyx® is a compound solution from the deoxycholate family that has been physically modified, creating a slow-release sugar-based system, the biological half-life is reduced which results in minimal side effects. The treatment protocol followed is known as ‘Aqualysis’ TM.
What results can I expect?
Evidence suggests that Aqualyx® is best performed as a course of treatments and typically 2-8 treatments are required for each area. Treatment is repeated every 3-4 weeks. Fat pockets should reduce in size session by session until realistic outcomes have been achieved.
How does Aqualyx® treatment work?
The human body naturally stores fat to supply energy and subcutaneous fat cells are difficult to diminish. The active substance in Aqualyx® locks into the cell wall making it unstable and releasing the fatty acid that is stored within it. Cell residue is removed and broken down by the body’s defences and the released fatty acids are converted to energy.
Is the treatment painful?
Treatment is delivered through very small injections directly into the area and can take 10-30 minutes on average, depending on the size of the area being treated. A local anesthetic can be used to reduce discomfort.
Are there side effects?
Local side effects are reported are redness, swelling, stinging, itching, bruising, bleeding, tenderness/pain, but there could be a possibility of hyperpigmentation (usually very temporary), and scarring (rare, due to injection site reaction). Side effects usually settle within 4-6 days. Gentle cleansing of the area should be practiced for 24-48 hours post-treatment and exercise avoided. Other non-surgical/surgical skin treatments in the area should be avoided for 14 days prior or post.
Injectable Platelet-Rich Fibrin (i-PRF) FAQs
Platelet-rich plasma (PRP) treatment is a non-surgical procedure that uses a patient's own blood to promote healing and tissue regeneration. During the treatment, a small amount of blood is drawn from the patient and processed to increase the concentration of platelets, which are then injected back into the affected area. The platelets contain proteins and growth factors that help to stimulate the body's natural healing process. PRP treatment is commonly used to treat sports injuries, arthritis, and tendonitis, as well as to improve skin texture and tone. The procedure is minimally invasive and generally well-tolerated, with few side effects. Patients can typically resume normal activities immediately after the treatment, although it may take several weeks to see the full effects of the therapy.
What results can I expect?
A smoother, younger, firmer, and fresher appearance of the skin. In the case of Male and Female Pattern Hair Loss, sustained hair loss with potential for re-growth is attainable. The results look completely natural and should last ongoing provided an initial course of 3 is taken (monthly for 3 months), with regular maintenance treatments are undertaken.
How does it work?
Alpha granules contained within blood platelets contain 6 key growth factors, which have been discovered to upregulate the production of new blood vessels, more collagen which helps treat signs of aging, and skin rejuvenation. Furthermore, the release of Insulin-like growth factor-1 (IGF-1), has been shown to promote the anagen phase of hair growth.
Is the treatment painful?
PRP is injected with tiny needles so that the treatment is almost painless. Treatment combined with skin needling takes around 45 minutes.
Are there side effects?
As with all injections and skin needling procedures, there may be some localized redness, tenderness, swelling, and bruising but these tend to be mild and temporary. As with all injections, there is a small risk of infection, but this is rare. Side effects usually settle within 4-6 days. Gentle cleansing of the area should be practiced for 24-48 hours post-treatment and exercise avoided. Other non-surgical/surgical skin treatments in the area should be avoided for 14 days prior or post.
Dermaplaning FAQ's
Dermaplaning is a method of facial exfoliation that uses a 10 gauge scalpel to gently scrape off the top layer of dulling dead skin cells in order to reveal a smoother, brighter complexion. Sounds scary, right? It really isn’t, as long as you’re in the right hands. Dermaplaning requires handling a very sharp blade that’s used in surgeries.
What results can I expect?
You’ll immediately look more radiant with a more even skin tone and texture. All of your peach fuzz will be gone, which is why first-timers say their skin has never felt so soft before. For optimum results use in conjunction with the LA LAB™ skincare range.
How do Dermaplaning treatments work?
Dermaplaning is recommended for all skin types except for acneic skin. Dermaplaning removes 21 days worth of dead skin cells, and also the facial hair, leaving the surface very smooth. It’s best to allow the skin to complete its rejuvenation cycle before your next treatment. It also allows for greater penetration of skincare products and creates a flawless canvas for make-up to glide on smoothly.
Is the treatment painful?
Dermaplaning is a painless procedure and can be compared to the sensation of shaving your legs, but in this case, it’s on your face. First the skin is cleansed and thoroughly dried. Next, an area of your skin is pulled taut with one hand whilst the other uses a sterile 10 gauge blade at a 45 degree angle to scrape off dead skin cells and peach fuzz with short, swift strokes.
Are there side effects?
There are no side effects and zero downtime. After the treatment, your skin will be highly sensitive to sun exposure and may already look very pink, so be sure to wear a broad-spectrum sunscreen with SPF 30 or higher to reduce the risk of hyperpigmentation.

Plasma Pen
Plasma Pen Treatment is a minimally invasive cosmetic procedure that utilises a device known as a plasma pen to remove or treat a plethora of skin conditions. The handheld pen emits a high-frequency electric current onto the skin, which creates a controlled thermal injury and stimulates the production of new skin cells. The treatment is highly effective in reducing fine lines and wrinkles, age spots, acne scars, sagging skin, and stretch marks. Plasma Pen Treatment is considered less invasive than traditional surgical procedures, with fewer side effects and minimal downtime. It is ideal for those who want to achieve a more youthful and rejuvenated look without undergoing painful and expensive surgeries. The treatment provides long-lasting results, and users can expect improvements to last up to three years. Overall, Plasma Pen Treatment is a safe, non-surgical, and cost-effective solution that offers impressive outcomes.
It uses a handheld device that creates a tiny plasma arc to stimulate the production of collagen and elastin in the skin, which helps tighten and lift the skin. The treatment can target various areas of the face and body, including eyelids, forehead, nasolabial folds, jowls, neck, abdomen, and more.
The procedure typically takes between 30 minutes to an hour, depending on the area being treated. Although some mild discomfort and swelling can be expected, there is minimal downtime required, and most individuals can return to their daily activities soon after the session.
The Plasma Pen Treatment is suitable for individuals of all skin types, but it is essential to consult with a licensed and experienced practitioner before undergoing the procedure. They can provide a personalised treatment plan that addresses the individual's specific needs, concerns, and goals.
In conclusion, the Plasma Pen Treatment is an innovative procedure that offers a safe, effective, and non-invasive solution to achieve a more youthful and rejuvenated look. Its long-lasting results, minimal downtime, and natural-looking outcomes make it a popular choice for individuals looking to enhance their appearance without surgery.
SiIhouette Soft Thread Lift
The Silhouette Soft Thread Lift is an innovative and effective way to lift and tighten the skin on the face and neck. It is a minimally-invasive procedure that uses absorbable sutures to create a “lift” in the face and neck area, reducing the appearance of wrinkles, sagging skin, and fine lines.
The thread lift is performed quickly. The threads are inserted into the skin to create a “lift,” which repositions the skin to a more youthful position. As the threads dissolve, the skin is left with an improved, more youthful look.

Filler Dissolving
Filler dissolving is a non-surgical cosmetic procedure that involves the use of injectable enzymes to break down and dissolve dermal fillers. This technique is ideal for those who are unhappy with the results of their dermal filler treatment or for those who experience complications. The enzymes work by breaking down the hyaluronic acid in the filler, which then gets absorbed into the body and eliminated through natural processes. Filler dissolving provides a safe and effective way to reverse the effects of dermal fillers, restoring your natural appearance. However, it is important to have the procedure done by a qualified practitioner to avoid any unwanted side effects. With filler dissolving, you can achieve the look you want without the worry of long-lasting results.
Hyaluronic Acid Skinboosters
Hyaluronic acid skin boosters are a popular cosmetic treatment for achieving a youthful and radiant complexion. Hyaluronic acid is a naturally occurring substance in our skin that helps to retain moisture and create a plump, supple appearance. Skin boosters are injectable treatments that deliver hyaluronic acid directly into the skin, providing a deep hydration boost and stimulating collagen production. This helps to improve skin texture, reduce fine lines and wrinkles, and enhance overall skin tone and radiance. Skin boosters are a non-surgical, minimally invasive treatment that can be customized to suit individual skin concerns and needs. Whether you are looking to address signs of aging or simply want to give your skin a revitalizing boost, hyaluronic acid skin boosters can help you achieve your goals.
Profhilo
The first of its kind, Profhilo® is a revolutionary 'beneath the skin' hyaluronic acid moisturising treatment, made with the patented NAHYCO® technology. This results in a unique hyaluronic acid injectable gel, which has a prolonged stimulating activity on the dermal cells. When injected into skin, Profhilo® stimulates the skin cell receptors to counteract skin laxity and improve and restore firmness of the skin.
One of the highest concentrations of hyaluronic acid on the market, Profhilo® not only boosts and hydrates the skin, but also remodels ageing and sagging tissue. The most common areas of treatment include the face and neck and can also be used for the décolletage, hands, arms, knees and abdomen area where it would effectively treat skin laxity. The treatment is suitable for men and women as well as offering skin benefits for patients of all ages.
How Does Profhilo® Work?
Ultra-pure hyaluronic acid is precisely injected into the area being treated. Unlike wrinkle reducing and dermal filler treatments, Profhilo® stimulates collagen and elastin, attracting water in the deeper layers of the skin.
As a stabilised product, the activity on dermal cells will last longer than that of a non-stabilised gel. During this time the stimulation of four different types of collagen and elastin takes place by slow release of hyaluronic acid.
The stimulation results in significant tissue improvement. Therefore we cannot say that Profhilo® is a skin booster as it also has a significant tightening / lifting effect on the tissue.
Obagi Medical
Obagi Medical Treatment is a skincare regime designed to help improve the appearance of aging and damaged skin. The treatment involves the use of prescription-strength products that work together to promote skin repair and rejuvenation. The system includes a range of cleansers, toners, and moisturisers as well as specialised products such as vitamin C serums, retinoids, and skin lighteners. The Obagi Medical Treatment is often used to address concerns such as fine lines, wrinkles, hyperpigmentation, and acne. Bruxism (Teeth Grinding) or
Jawline Slimming
Bruxism, also known as teeth grinding, is a condition in which a person involuntarily grinds or clenches their teeth. This can cause tooth damage, jaw pain, and headaches. There are treatment options available, such as mouthguards or relaxation techniques, that can help alleviate the symptoms of bruxism. Another type of treatment that is gaining popularity is jawline slimming, which involves injecting Botox into the jaw muscles to relax them and create a more slender appearance. This treatment can also help with teeth grinding, as the relaxed muscles are less likely to engage in this behavior. If you experience symptoms of bruxism or are interested in jawline slimming, it is important to consult with a qualified healthcare provider to discuss your options.
Sculptra Injections
Sculptra injection treatment is a non-surgical cosmetic procedure that helps stimulate collagen production in the skin. The injections consist of poly-L-lactic acid, a biocompatible and biodegradable substance that is used to gradually replace lost collagen. The treatment can help reduce the appearance of wrinkles, fine lines, and folds, and can also improve the texture and elasticity of the skin. Sculptra injections are typically administered over a series of sessions, with results that can last up to two years. This treatment is a great option for those looking for a non-invasive alternative to traditional facelift surgery. It is important to consult with a qualified and experienced healthcare provider to determine if Sculptra injection treatment is right for you.
Neck Lift/Platysmal Band
A neck lift, also known as a platysmal band procedure, is a surgical procedure that is designed to improve the appearance of the neck and jowls. During the procedure, excess skin and fat are removed from the neck area, and the platysma muscle - which is responsible for the appearance of vertical bands in the neck - is tightened. This helps to create a smoother, more youthful appearance in the neck and jawline. The procedure is typically performed under general anesthesia, and patients can expect a recovery period of several weeks. While a neck lift can be an effective way to improve the appearance of the neck and jowls, it is important to carefully consider the risks and benefits of the procedure before undergoing surgery.
Anti-Sweating Injections
Anti-sweating injections are a cosmetic treatment designed to alleviate excessive sweating. The injections work by blocking the chemical signals that stimulate the sweat glands, leading to a significant decrease in sweat production. The procedure involves injecting small amounts of the solution into the affected area, usually the armpits, palms, or soles of the feet. The effects of the treatment typically last for several months before further injections are required. This type of treatment is ideal for individuals who suffer from hyperhidrosis, a condition characterized by excessive sweating beyond what is necessary to regulate body temperature. Anti-sweating injections offer an effective, long-lasting solution to this condition, helping individuals feel more confident and comfortable in their daily lives.
Vitamin B12 Injections
Vitamin B12 injections are a form of treatment administered to individuals who have a vitamin B12 deficiency. This can occur due to a range of reasons, including a lack of vitamin B12 in one's diet, an inability to absorb vitamin B12 from food, or due to certain medical conditions. Vitamin B12 injections are administered into the muscle and can help to increase one's energy levels, improve mood, and aid in the production of red blood cells. Additionally, vitamin B12 injections may be recommended for individuals who follow a strict vegan or vegetarian diet, as these diets may lack sufficient amounts of vitamin B12. It is important to consult with a healthcare provider before starting any form of vitamin B12 supplementation.
